AGM 2022 | Summary
We held an in-person AGM this year following listening to feedback from various Samaj members. We provided a sumptuous afternoon tea with snacks including Samosas, Pakoras, Jalebi, Mixed Bhuja and Masala. Please see a facebook link to the AGM pictures below.
It was however very disheartening to see reduced participation from the Samaj Members at this year’s AGM, as compared to the last two years of online AGMs. We marginally reached the quorum required for the AGM, which started at 3.45pm.
THE AGM AGENDA WAS FOLLOWED WHEREIN;
- The Minutes of last year’s AGM were presented with no matters being raised from it.
- President’s report was presented by Tarun Kumar Pragji and accepted. The report highlighted the fewer Samaj functions conducted in the past year due to Covid-19 and the lack of participation from the Samaj Members at the Samaj events.
- Treasurer’s report was presented by Ronil Amarsee and accepted. The report highlighted the decline in Samaj revenue due to lack of Functions caused by Covid-19 and reduced subscriptions received. Financial reports and Auditors reports were presented and accepted, with BK Audit being re-appointed as Auditors for financial year 2022/23.
- Election of Office Bearers 2022-23:Nominations for the New Office Bearers were received from Rajiv Kumar and Mandeep Pala, and were unanimously accepted. New Office Bearers and their roles are listed below.
GENERAL BUSINESS
- A minute silence was observed for the Samaj Members and wider Soni Community members we have lost in the past year.
- Sanjai Bagia congratulated the new committee and encouraged the Youth to get more involved in the Samaj and eventually take some leadership.
- Harish Sundarji appreciated the work of Past President, Tarun Kumar Pragji, and congratulated the New Committee and President Jitesh Raniga. Harish Bhai also gave assurances that the Trustees of the Samaj will always be there to support the Office Bearers and be available for any guidance they may require.
- The AGM concluded at 4.46pm.
The new committee is looking forward to serving the Samaj for the next year and to present the members with various Functions and Events to encourage more participation and an Active Samaj.

I would like to congratulate the new committee for the 2022/23 year. It is very encouraging to see new and young blood in the committee to supplement the existing team of experience. I look forward to working with the new team to realise the new inspiration and ideas coming to fruition to serve and reunite our Samaj.
